It’s Gaius’s birthday. She has a present for him, and he has a present for her!
Since Rachel’s birthday falls over Spring Equinox Break, Gaius presents her present early…which is necessary, because it is physically attached to Roanoke Hall.
In the process, however, it comes out that while Gaius was fine dating her when he was sixteen, now that he is seventeen and she is still thirteen, he’s beginning to wonder if the age gap is too big.
If only Rachel could figure out how to turn fourteen more quickly!
In the meantime, it is election night for the Knights of Walpurgis.* But first, the Knights have been asked to host games for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Roanoke, which is to be held on Walpurgisnacht (April 30th). They must pick a dozen games, and a lively discussion ensues as students from all around the world push for their favorite games.
But at last, the election is finally to be held.
Will Gaius win? Or will he suffer a defeat upon his birthday?
*—I got the name Knights of Walpurgis from the moderator of the original game. Only after the first several books had been written did he casually mention that this was what J. K. Rowling had originally called the group later known as the Death Eaters. Had I known, I most certainly would have called them something else, but I do like the name.
I have though Gaius was going to break her heart and reject it!
