It was by a serendipity far greater than authors can arrange that 2024 happened to be the Year of the Dragon.
At Roanoke Academy, the Sacred Days club—that gets to choose which of the many pagan holidays will be honored during the school year—felt the presence of an actual Asian lung on campus meant that Lunar New Year for the Year of the Dragon should definitely be honored.
Since the school was locked down during the start of Lunar New Year, they pick the last day of Lunar New Year, the Lantern Festival day, to celebrate.
The appearance of a person out of the Griffin family's past turns what was supposed to be a cheerful dance into a landmine, yet amazing things happen—the lantern festival brings strange wonders, and the Hour of the Angels that follows is more wonderous still.
Most wonderful of all, Rachel gets a chance to dance with many of the fine young men in her life, including her amusing boyfriend, Vlad (pictured below), and even, later that night, the Raven.

Has anyone told Sandra? 😂 the perils of commas…
Do we know where Salome originally came from?
It’s going to be tough waiting for the next set of books.
